Joel Bergner …. Global artist, educator & advocate for social change
@joelartista
From the streets of Brooklyn to Syrian refugee camps; the favelas of Brazil to rural Ugandan settlements; shanty towns in India to prisons in the US and the UK, Joel has collaborated with youth, families and artists across 30 countries to create murals that reflect the resilience and stories of their communities. As CEO and Co-Founder of Artolution, a non-profit organization, Joel supports local artists to lead sustainable arts programs with vulnerable children in their communities year-round.
“Artolution is focused on developing local leaders in the arts to use collaborative art-making as a tool for communities to share their stories with the world”.
Meet our Co-Founders
Since 2008, co-founders Max Frieder and Joel Bergner—first independently and later jointly— have led hundreds of Artolution community-based public art projects around the world. Artolution became incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 2016 with a focus on developing sustainable programs in communities where we have been active, to be facilitated by local artists trained by Frieder and Bergner.
